Grand Committee Minutes
November 17, 2005
Meeting commenced at 7PM at the Town Hall, Newbury, New Hampshire.
Attendance: Dan Wolf, Bev Wolf, Virginia Kennedy, Chuck Kennedy, Bill Weiler, Bob Morris, Dick Surette, Dick Cole, Jean Cole, Lou Marzelli, Mary Marzelli, Paul Maraschio, Claire Vannatta.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
· Reviewed new officers for Board of Directors
· Minutes accepted as read.
INSURANCE
CMH insurance to be increased--$300,00 fire, and 1 million for liability
ELECTRICAL
Immediate need to replace circuit board
Marty Newell donated his time/materials to complete the job
Any/all new electrical work will be donated by Mr. Newell –Board will supply the materials.
TREASURER’S REPORT
Delay by Board for 501(c)(3) tax-exempt materials. Randy Messer forwarded all materials that he had.
Checking account balance as of November 2005: $3,984.00
Savings account: $15,210
ARCHICTURE, RESTORATION AND MAINTENANCE
Trees removed from back of CMH building.
Blakeman submitted drainage plan to drain water away from CMH building.
6 contractors received plans for drainage plan-2 declined, 2 bidding on plans, and 2 will call back.
Scheduled project time is the spring, including the planting of grass, etc.
Tower-Bruce Gallian hired at $450.00 to determine need of tower repairs. His pictures demonstrate need for repairs at a cost of between $5,500.00 and $8,000.00. Emergency repairs to begin between Nov.16-28, 2005.
An architect is needed to lead the project. Allen Hill is unavailable due to illness.
Division of Historical Resources used as a resource to find other names to lead the project.
Rick Monahon estimated a $14,000.00 range for the study and task list.
FUNDRAISING
Letters sent to people in town for donations as “start up” money. Some people objected to donation because the CMH is a “church”. Discussion followed to clarify CMH as a non-secular building, not a church.
Grant writers/monies from other places in the state are needed for CMH funding. Perhaps professional fundraisers can be solaced.
PUBLICITY
Publicity needed to clarify CMH vs. church.
Discussion on letters sent to the editors, plus photo opts, that the status of CMH is a community project, not a church.
Suzie Reilly and Dan Wolf wrote letters to bring the original organ back to CMH. Original pictures and information are needed about the organ.
NEW BUSINESS
Needed: Committees for CMN--Organization (By-laws), Fundraising, Architecture, and Communication/Publicity.
