NEWBURY RECREATION COMMITTEE REPORT
                                                            June 5 & 25, 2007
June 5, 2007 Emergency Meeting
PRESENT:
Peter Newbern, Jane Pratt, Gail Bostic, Marilyn Hill, Dennis Pavlicek

EMERGENCY:

Marilyn will not be able to continue as Recreation Coordinator due to personal/family considerations.  The committee is charged with advertising and interviewing replacement candidates in the next few weeks.  Dennis will email a draft of a Shopper ad to be edited by committee members.

OTHER BUSINESS:
The Old Home Day dunk tank has been ordered and Peter is working on a  schedule , requesting that last year’s “victims” volunteer to be dunked again this year, but with the tank in the sun.

Fisher Field update:  KA Stevens of Newport was awarded the contract for the site work at Fisher Field.  Hopefully the soccer field will be ready for play next Aug./Sept.


June 25, 2007 Regularly Scheduled Meeting

PRESENT:
Peter Newbern, Jane Pratt, Gail Bostic, Marilyn Hill, Inge Lee

RECREATION COORDINATOR POSITION:

The committee is requesting that Dennis schedule interviews on Thurs., June 28 in the morning.  At this time three resumes have been received.


RECREATION PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES:
Among the programs and activities discussed:

Summer Concerts- Good start!  Committee is helping out Marilyn with covering the summer dates.
Women’s Wellness Forum-   All scheduled and will be advertised in the Shopper this week 6/27.  July 10 Incontinence, Aug. 14 Nutrition, Sept. 18 Diabetes.
Old Home Day- Peter has talked with several town’s people who have agreed to be on the dunk team.  He is searching for a few more.  The dunk tank is scheduled for 1-3 PM and he has 4 dunk team members and a ticket seller all set.





Fisher Field
Work on the site began last week.  A change is very obvious to passerbys.  More updates as work progresses.



NEXT MEETING:
The next meeting of the Newbury Recreation Committee will be Monday, July 23, 2007, at 7:00 PM.
