NEWBURY BOARD OF SELECTMEN
MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 24, 2007 MEETING
Selectmen: Richard Wright, Gary Budd
Town Personnel: Dennis Pavlicek, Town Administrator; Donna Long, Admin. Assistant;
Public: Joseph and Stephanie Spaulding, Mike Buote, Chris Magistro Dan Wolf and others.
The meeting convened at 6:30 p.m.
PUBLIC INPUT:
Mike Buote approached the Board to request that he and fellow renter Chris Magistro be permitted to stay at the rental property owned by the Town of Newbury. He had received a letter asking them to leave by the end of October due to some plumbing problems. Buote stated that all the problems have been fixed and they would like to stay until the end of June. The Selectmen agreed to rescind the letter and to fall back onto the original lease barring no upcoming safety issues.
APPOINTMENTS:
Dan Wolfe gave an update on the Kearsarge Regional Middle School. He reported that the projected completion date is January 8, 2008. They are installing a wood fire boiler and putting some additional fencing and sprinklers. Pavlicek said he would like to have the MS-24 and MS-25 signed as soon as possible so that Newbury can set its tax rate for this coming year. Wolfe will get back to Pavlicek. Wright asked Wolf if there is a policy to get rid of surplus supplies at the middle school. Wolf said he would look into this issue.
REGULAR BUSINESS:
PAYROLL & ACCOUNTS PAYABLE: Week ending September 22, 2007 were approved.
MINUTES: Minutes of September 10, 2007 were approved to file.
OLD BUSINESS:
Wright gave an update on the Fishersfield project. He reported that he has received two
bids for the service building. It will be voted on at the next meeting. Wright stated
that all filling at the wetland site needs to be completed by June of 2008. He said that the stone
wall and gate will be done by the highway department.
NEW BUSINESS:
Pavlicek presented the Board with a quote for a new mower for Blodgett Sewer. The Select Board signed the purchase order.
Pavlicek read a letter from 911 stating that the 911 Dept. of Safety will be taking over the database from Verizon. Pavlicek will talk to the fire chief to ask him to continue updating numbers.
Pavlicek presented an application that was received for an opening within the Transfer Station. The Board will ask a candidate to come in for an interview at the next meeting.
Pavlicek distributed an invitation to the Select Board to participate in a fund raiser for the Velie Fund at the New London Inn .
