MINUTES OF JULY 13, 2009 MEETING

Selectmen:  James Powell, Richard Wright and Gary Budd.

Town Personnel:  Dennis Pavlicek, Town Administrator; Donna Long, Administrative Assistant
Public:  Marty Newell and Dan Wolf

The meeting convened at 6:25 p.m.

APPOINTMENTS:
Marty Newell came in to discuss the electrical aspects of the upcoming parking lot expansion behind the town office.  He said that two more lamp posts should be put on the access road leading to Fishersfield Road and that a long arm can be placed on one of the telephone poles already installed on Fishersfield Road.  It was also agreed that the current lamp posts by the library will be replaced by ones that match the lamp posts at the town office.  Newell said that they will need to drill into concrete to replace the lights at the library.   Newell also briefly discussed work to be done at the transfer station.  A quote will be given to Pavlicek this week.  Newell said that he will add a switch on the inside of the building so that only one compactor can be turned on at a time.

PUBLIC INPUT:
Dan Wolf asked if there was any input by the selectmen that they would like him to bring back to the Mount Sunapee Advisory committee regarding their five year plan.  The selectmen said they have not developed an opinion yet and they will continue to look at the proposed plans and the impact they will have on Newbury.

NEW BUSINESS:
The Board of Selectmen looked at the culvert investigation results in the back of the town office.  Pavlicek said that a company sent a video camera down the culvert and that it is working efficiently and is in good condition.
There was a brief review of Old Home Day.  Pavlicek reported that the clean up was easier this year with much more help available.  He also said that the Squam Lakes Science Center exhibits went well.  There will be a review meeting for the Old Home Day Committee within the next couple of weeks.  Powell said that he would like someone available to open the gate at the town office for handicapped individuals in the morning.  Pavlicek thanked the selectmen for the acknowledgement regarding the pedestrian sidewalk project during the celebration.
