NEWBURY BOARD OF SELECTMEN
MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 8, 2009 MEETING
Selectmen: James Powell, Richard Wright and Gary Budd.
Town Personnel: Dennis Pavlicek, Town Administrator; Donna Long, Administrative Assistant; Hank Thomas, Fire Chief
Public: Pat Sherman, Dick Surrette, Paul Hague, Carl Christiansen, Katheryn Holmes, Judy Healey and Nancy Nichols.
The meeting convened at 6:00 p.m.
APPOINTMENTS:
Three members of the Veterans Memorial Committee met with the select board to discuss the future of the Veterans Hall. There was discussion on how the current building could be utilized, as well as the property bordering the fire pond. The members will report back to the full committee with the new information.
PUBLIC INPUT:
Carl Christiansen said that he is having a dispute with his neighbor regarding a boundary marker. Wright told him this was a civil issue and that he should contact the police department. Christiansen said that he already contacted them and that the marker was now buried underground. He said that he is going to pull it back up and mark it orange. Christiansen would like a witness watch him do this. Photos will be taken as well.
Judy Healey and Nancy Nichols asked the Board if it would be okay to plant some simple flowers in front of the town owned buildings in South Newbury. Healey explained that the NBC received some extra money and would like to spruce up the village. The board approved this request.
Katheryn Holmes approached the Board regarding the Conservation Commission. She said that she wishes there was more communication between all the boards and the code enforcement officer. Wright suggested that interoffice memos can be sent if there is something that should be communicated to other boards and departments. Powell said that if someone has a complaint that Holmes should fill out a complaint form that will then be sent to the proper department, unless it is a wetlands issue in which the complaint should be filed with DES.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was discussion on the Parks and Recreation upcoming Fall event. The Fall affair

will be held on Saturday, October 24 from noon till 6:00 p.m. The event will feature a Halloween trail walk, pumpkins, kid’s crafts and games and live music. It will be held at Fishersfield.
Pavlicek said that credit will be given if street lights are taken down. There are three lights from PSNH that would be looked at being taken down.
REGULAR BUSINESS:
PAYROLL & ACCOUNTS PAYABLE: Week ending September 5, 2009 were approved and signed.
MINUTES: Minutes of August 24, 2009 were approved to file.
INTENT TO CUT: An intent to cut for Rheta and Diane Heller, Map/Lot # 030-666-
376 was signed and approved.
SIGN PERMIT: None
MEETING ADJOURNED at 8:20 p.m.
NEXT REGULAR MEETING: Monday, September 21, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. at the Town Office.
