Center Meeting House Committee
Once again, the Center Meeting House of Newbury is presenting a Summer Speaker Series and everyone is invited. The topic is WOMEN WHO CHALLENGED THE NORMS OF THEIR DAY.In collaboration with the Newbury Public Library and with support of the New Hampshire Humanities we want you to meet some of the women who were active in the abolition and women’s rights movements which culminated in votes for women.
The series will range from documentaries to first person interpreters and storytellers who will make these women come alive.Lucy Stone, Abby Hutchinson, Blanche Ames were defiant, fearless, rebellious and bold. They and many others you will meet along the way struggled against the norms of their day to expand the horizons for us all.
The attachment is a calendar of the series events which we hope you will consider your own personal “Save the Date”. The final installment is on Halloween and we end with THE CAPITAL CRIME OF WITCHCRAFT when we will be introduced to more WOMEN WHO CHALLENGED THE NORMS OF THEIR DAY.
