The Code Red emergency public notification system is coming to Newbury. Through a area partnership of communities, the towns of Newbury, New London, Sunapee, Springfield, Sutton and Wilmot have signed an agreement with the Emergency Communications Network to establish an emergency public notification system, sometimes called reverse 911, in each of the towns. In the event of an emergency critical information is provided by an automated telephone calling system to all of the households that may be impacted by the emergency. This can be one street, a section of town or the all the
numbers in whole Town of Newbury. The system will be used to provide information to residents during storms, such as December's ice storm or the floods that have occurred in the past years.
The system uses the phone listings from the local phone directory, but as this listing is not complete, with many residents having unlisted phone numbers or cellar phones only we are asking residents and businesses to complete the Code Red Enrolment Form listing a primary and an alternate phone to be sure that everyone is listed in the emergency notification database. This information will only be used for the emergency notification system and will not be shared or sold to any other party.
