Newbury Conservation Commission (NCC) – Virtual Meeting June 9, 2020
Members Present: Katheryn Holmes, Chair; Eric Unger, Vice-chair; Janet Lausten, Steve and Sue Russell, Bob Stewart, Members; Russell Smith, Ex-officio
Public: Andy Deegan and John Magee (New Hampshire Fish and Game Department) Mr. Unger called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m.
ADMINISTRATIVE:
Minutes
The NCC reviewed to the minutes of the May 12, 2020 meeting. Corrections were made. Mr. Stewart made a motion to accept the minutes with corrections. Mr. Smith seconded the motion. All were in favor.
The NCC reviewed to the minutes of the June 2, 2020 public hearing. Corrections were made. Mr. Stewart made a motion to accept the minutes with corrections. Mr. Smith seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Avery Property
Mr. Deegan reported that Ausbon Sargent has signed on the purchase and sales agreement and have forwarded to the sellers. He said that the sellers have added that they want it to say in the deed that the property will not be subdivided or developed. Mr. Deegan hopes that the closing will take place in September.
Mr. Unger asked if fundraising could begin. Mr. Stewart said fundraising efforts could be discussed in the upcoming NCC newsletter.
Mr. Deegan said he will ask his boss in the morning when fundraising can begin.
Ms. Holmes thanked Mr. Deegan and Mr. Magee for their help with this project.
Ms. Holmes would like to rename this property for future discussions.
Ms. Russell made a motion to accept the name “Warner River Head Waters Conservation Easement” for the project. Ms. Lausten seconded the motion. All were in favor.

OLD BUSINESS:
Ms. Holmes was wondering who would send out the new restoration letters. Mr. Smith said the letter will come from the Board of Selectmen and will be enforced by the Code Enforcement Officer.
Communications:
Ms. Holmes would like to renew the LSPA membership.
Mr. Stewart made a motion to renew the LSPA membership. Mr. Unger seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Ms. Homes mentioned that the DES sent “Best Management Practices & Techniques booklet to the NCC.
Discussion took place regarding newsletter topics. Some ideas include:
- Easement
- Mr. Russell’s presentation to the Advisory Committee
- Fundraising
Mr. Stewart made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Unger seconded the motion. All in favor.
