Lake Ice Prevention Bubblers Require Permit from Town Clerk

Thin Ice Sign

This is just a reminder for residents who own lakefront property and operate the ice prevention bubblers around their docks or boat houses. New Hampshire law requires that these aquatherm bubblers be permitted by the local town clerk. The permit fee is 50 cents. An application can be downloaded from the Newbury Website or picked up at the Town Clerk’s office. The law also requires that a "DANGER THIN ICE' sign be posted on the dock.

The permit location listing is provided to the Newbury Fire Department to indicate where there may be thin ice or open water on the lake in case of a rescue. The information also lists locations where firefighting water may be pumped from the lake.
