Permit Information About the Installation of Backup Generators and Gas Equipment

Are you planning on installing a backup propane generator at your home?

Please be aware that before work can start, an electrical permit must be obtained from the Code Enforcement Officer and a Permit to Install and Operate Gas Equipment from the fire department. All of the gas piping and installation must be done by a New Hampshire Licensed Gas Installer. 

Inspections are required by code enforcement and fire departments when the generator is being installed and the work is done.

Gas Equipment permits and inspections are also required for gas piping work and the installation of gas furnaces, fireplaces and piped in gas grills and fire pits.

Permit applications are available at the code enforcement officer’s office at town office and on the town and fire department websites.
