Town of Newbury Joint Loss Management Committee

                             September 19,2023

Present: Wayne Whitford, Brad Wheeler, Pam Bryk,  Hank Thomas, Tate Sweet-Brown, Jessica Dennis, Lea McBain

 

Old Business

• Police Station on Track on Budget

• Sewer Building due to be erected September 25, 2023

• Transfer Station: Lanes Striped ,gutternext week, stripes by compactors will be done soon, speed bumps have arrived at highway department

• Library: roof sheathing on,  has leaked into existing Library-servpro was called-will be monitoring for mold.

There has been comments concerning the flat roof-that is where HVAC isbeing located.

• Town Administrator: Diane was introduced to employees on September 18 and she attended the Selectboard meeting that night. Diane will be invited to the next safety meeting

• Old Home Day- there were no issues

• Speeding concerns-Rt 103A near Pine Cliff. Stationary Radar is in operation- extra patrols have been done

New Business and Department Reports.

• Town Office-Cyber Security training last week. Hope to have future training.  Grant written to have system of using fob to sign on. Cleaning out ofheat and ac ducts is scheduled. No problem with salt on walk ways last winter.

• Library- Partner with Fire and Police to host a fentanyl training. Documentary will be shown from ABC News

• Parks & Rec: Primex  inspectedplayground, climbing wall needs repairs-parts on order, wood chips need to be raked 

around playground apparatus. Future functions- Trunk or Treat, Tree lighting.

• Transfer Station: Safety Vests and Orange long sleeve shirts issued.

• Highway:  New sand shed near Hearse House. Vehicle Safety Check sheets before trucks go out.

• Fire Dept:  Safety check will be done at 212 Rt 103-A before tonights training.  Safety Check sheets when trucks return from calls and first Tuesday of every month.

• Police Dept: Working on background checks for new Officers. Possibly announce new officer next week.

          Accidents/Injuries/Claims:

• Four Property Claims, two water leaks and two cyber cases.
