JOINT LOSS MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

MEETING MINUTES OF MAY 10, 2021

 

Members Present:  Wayne Whitford, Henry Thomas, Deb Lacombe, Brad Wheler, Tate Sweetbrown, Pam Bryk, Sydney Bryk. Lea McBain

 

Meeting convened at the Newbury Town Office at 8:36 a.m.

 

The minutes of the March 12, 2021, meeting was approved.

 

Old Business

  • Highway Department employees have completed the back injury Prevention class.
  • Town Office parking lot lighting. Hank Thomas suggested that a different type of bulb might produce better light for the parking lot. He will discuss with the electrician working on the new fire station.
  • Playground walkway. Once the new parking lot is completed this should no cloner be a concern.
  • CPR Recertification. Pam will get a date and the number of people for a CPR recertification class in late may and will set up with Vicki.
  • Pam will provide dater of next meeting to the transfer station and Blodgett Sewer plant so representatives can attend.
  • Snowplowing of sidewalks: possibly reassign an employee to plow snow on the sidewalks and collect trash
  • Old Home day will be July 10 starting at 10:00AM. Art shoe, tent on lawn for vendors and crafts on front lawn. There will be no bounce houses, but there will be a climbing wall. Food vendors in parking lot. In evening will be a band concert and fireworks.  Fire and police departments will not have any activities at their station.
  • Updated COVID-19 Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) protocols approved by selectboard at the April 26, meeting.

 

New Business

  • Steven’s driving class is scheduled for September 8th, Levi Clark, Josh Fisher and Steve Schultz are scheduled to go. Waiting for transfer station employee to add to the roster.
  • Covid vaccination sites will be closing as of June 2. Many town employees are not vaccinated. Library is requiring masks for all employees and patrons. Recreation department will leave masks up to the children’s parents.
  • New fire station construction project has had no worker injuries. North Branch construction has safety officer that regularly visits the site.
  • Town meeting in tent at Mount Sunapee Resort on May 1, went well, only issue was the cold temperatures.
  • Town dock needs some repairs after winter ice damage. Dock is currently under water from the high lake level. Caution tape will be put on the ramp warning of the danger.
  • Fishing derby at the Fisherfield park pond that is sponsored by the Bradford fish and game club needs approval by Primex, and certificates of insurance need to be provided to the town. .

 

 

New Fire Station:  Chief Thomas said that the siding is being installed, the angle of the retaining wall had to be redone as it was too steep. Still looking at a June completion date.

Town Department Reports.

 

  • New fire and security alarms are being installed including panic alarm, motion detectors and door alarms.
  • Library: will be open full hours starting next week. Masks and social distancing will be required Extra cleaning at night. Ticks in the grass around the building may be an issue for outside children’s activities.
  • Police Department: Asking visitors to the police station to wear masks.
  • Fire Department: Members continue to wear masks in the station. Following state protocols for masks and face shields on calls. State provided decontamination sprayer is still available for other departments.
  • Highway Department: Employees are still wearing masks in the break room. Employees must wear masks when dealing with the public. .New truck for department approved at town meeting
  • Transfer Station: Cameras are needed as trash brush and leaves are being dumped at Fisherfield Park. Brush is out of control. Need new signs specifying limits of dumping.

 

Accidents and Injuries: Since last meeting there has been no accidents or injuries.
