1. Re-introductions: New member, Mary Fuller (former utilities engineer)
2. Mission Statement: Approved
Newbury Energy Mission
Newbury Energy is an advisory committee to the Select Board of Newbury, New Hampshire in support of the town’s vision of commitment to stewardship of shared resources within the region.
The committee identifies opportunities for the town and its residents to reduce energy costs and adopt energy efficiency best practices to lower environmental impact.
3. Report on NH Municipal Meeting - Joy, shared materials
4. Report on Local Plastics Discussion (will be rescheduled, Deb not able to be present) - follow up to film “the Story of Plastic”- Deb
5. Interests/Priorities/Timeline/ Research/Expertise - What should be our focus?
Discussed:
a. Plastics and potentially working with Hannafordsand/or Market Basket and other local companies
b. NH legislative measures, providing information to residents on policy
c. Had previously discussed composting
Near term focus:
Residents: DIY Weatherizing presentation, will link from town website
Town: Electrical audit, Dec. 15
6. Town Energy (lighting) Audit - Dec. 15 10:00 AM. Mary and Andrew
7. Publicity -
a. Website/Facebook, great to include some Kearsarge Sustainability Club students to help us - Lisa will follow up
b. Annual Report, due Jan. 8 - Lisa will draft
8. Select Board Meeting - Dec. 21. 6:00 PM, link on town website
Newbury Energy members invited to attend, we will submit mission statement in advance
Next meeting January 25th due to MLK on the 3rd Monday
